Iranian Women’s Football Team Stops in Istanbul on Return from Asian Cup
With Iran’s airspace closed following joint US-Israeli strikes on February 28, the team traveled from Australia to Malaysia, then Oman, before reaching Türkiye.
Upon arrival in Istanbul, the delegation completed passport checks under police escort. Reports indicate that the group included several players who had initially applied for asylum in Australia but later withdrew their requests.
The team then departed the airport by road to continue their return to Iran, as stated by reports.
