London Mayor Khan Fires Back at Trump's Criticism

(MENAFN) London Mayor Sadiq Khan hit back at US President Donald Trump on Tuesday as their longstanding public feud flared once again, with both sides trading sharp words across the Atlantic.

Trump, a persistent detractor of the London mayor, unleashed his latest attack during an Oval Office meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, making pointed remarks about Khan and the state of the British capital.

"You have a terrible Mayor of London, he's an incompetent guy, you have Sharia courts, you don't want Sharia courts," Trump said.

Khan's office wasted no time responding, with a spokesman delivering a pointed rebuke laced with dry humor.

"The Mayor is clearly still living rent free in Donald Trump's head. He's obsessed with him. Sadiq could probably claim squatters' rights," the spokesman said.

The latest exchange marks a fresh chapter in a rivalry that stretches back nearly a decade. Khan has been an outspoken critic of Trump since the Republican leader first assumed the presidency in 2017, and the two have repeatedly clashed publicly over the years.

Tuesday's remarks from the Oval Office suggest that despite the passage of time, the animosity between the two leaders remains firmly intact — and shows little sign of cooling.
