Russia intercepts Ukrainian missiles, strikes launch sites
Officials added that all incoming missiles were intercepted, though debris caused minor damage on the ground.
The attempted strike on Tuesday targeted civilian areas and involved four ATACMS missiles, all of which were downed by Russian crews using the S-400 air-defense system and the Pantsir anti-aircraft missile-gun system. Debris damaged the roofs of the Voronezh Regional Gerontology Center, an orphanage, and a private home, but no civilian casualties were reported.
Russian aerial reconnaissance located the launch site in Ukraine’s Kharkov Region near Voloskaya Balakleya. An Iskander-M missile crew struck the position, destroying both MLRS launchers, their ammunition, and up to ten personnel. The ministry released footage showing the destruction and photos of missile debris.
Kiev has routinely launched drone and missile strikes into Russian territory, targeting critical infrastructure and residential areas, prompting Moscow to accuse Ukraine of “terrorism” and carry out retaliatory attacks on Ukrainian military sites, including drone assembly facilities.
