Lavrov meets with Jordanian Foreign Minister
Lavrov recalled that during early peace talks in Istanbul in April 2022, Kyiv’s negotiating team suggested basic principles for ending the Russia-Ukraine war, including Ukraine’s refusal to join NATO or other military blocs and confirmation of its neutral, non-nuclear status.
Russia supports providing Ukraine with security guarantees on an equal basis, involving countries such as China, the US, the UK, and France. Lavrov added that excluding Russia from discussions on Ukraine’s security would be unrealistic, calling it “a path to nowhere.”
