World Bank proceeds in reviewing restructuring of National Employment Program

(MENAFN) The World Bank is finalizing a restructuring plan for Jordan’s Employment and Skills Project, designed to enhance workforce skills and promote private sector job creation. According to a World Bank document cited by Al Mamlaka, the plan is under review for final approval and aims to be signed with the Jordanian government.

The restructuring seeks to improve implementation efficiency, expand the project’s reach, and increase the number of beneficiaries. A key focus is better aligning workforce skills with labor market demands, while retaining the project’s strategic goals of supporting employment for Jordanians, particularly women and youth.

The initiative, launched in April 2022 in response to the COVID-19 crisis, has already achieved significant milestones, including providing on-the-job training to thousands and strengthening government-private sector partnerships. It has also enhanced monitoring systems and contributed to regulatory reforms to simplify the recruitment of skilled workers.

The restructuring follows a performance review aimed at streamlining activities and maximizing the impact of financial resources, ensuring continued progress toward boosting employment opportunities in Jordan.
